Just hours ago the co-production between Belgium, the Netherlands and Bulgaria, which will open the 21st Sofia Film Fest on March 9 in Hall 1 at National palace of culture, was presented with KNF AWARD at International Film Festival in Rotterdam. The award is presented by "Circle of Dutch Film Journalists" for the Dutch film, produced or co-produced with the participation of the Netherlands, which premiered in the program.
The world premiere of Jessica Woodworth and Peter Brosens' fourth feature film was in the "Horizons" programme on the 73rd Venice Film Festival in 2016. Since then the film has participated with success and has already invited in programs of almost 30 festivals worldwide, including Busan, Palm Springs, Sao Paulo, Thessaloniki, Dubai, Tallinn, Rotterdam, Göteborg.
„King of the Belgians” is a production of Bo Films (Belgium - Flanders) in co-production with Entre Chien et Loup (Belgium - Wallonia), Topkapi Films (Netherlands) and Art Fest (Bulgaria). Producers from Bulgarian side are Mira Staleva and Stefan Kitanov. Bulgarian financing for "King of the Belgians" was provided by the Executive Agency "National Film Center". The project is supported by film funds Belgium and the Netherlands, Eurimages and the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.
Bulgarian premiere of the film will be the official opening of the 21st SIFF on March 9 in Hall 1 of National palace of culture.
