20. SOFIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS

GRAND PRIX ‘SOFIA CITY OF FILM’
For best film in the International Competition for first and second films
(provided by Sofia Municipality – a diploma and cash prize of 7,000 Euro for the director and the producer of the film) went to ‘Zhaleika’ (Germany) by director Eliza Petkova.

LIDL AUDIENCE AWARD 
For best film from a special festival selection went to ‘My Father, My Mother, My Sister’ (Bulgaria), directed by Dimitar Kotsev-Shosho.

SPECIAL JURY AWARD
For film in the International Competition for first and second films went to ‘The Summer of Frozen Fountains’ (Georgia-Russia) by director Vano Burduli.

AWARD FOR BEST DIRECTOR
For film in the International Competition went to Tomas Weinreb and Petr Kazda for their film ‘I, Olga Hepnarova’

AWARD FOR BEST BULGARIAN FEATURE FILM went to ‘Thirst’ (Bulgaria) by director Svetla Tsotsorkova.

JAMESON AWARD FOR BEST BULGARIAN SHORT FILM
For film in the Jameson competition
(provided by Jameson Irish Whiskey – a diploma and cash prize of 6,000 Euro) was given to ‘Red Light’ (Bulgaria) by director Toma Vasharov.

AWARD FOR BEST DOCUMENTARY
For film in the International Documentary Competition – a diploma and cash prize of 1,000 Euro) went to the film ‘Mr.Gaga’ (Israel-Sweden-Germany-The Netherlands) by Tomer Heymann. 

BEST BALKAN FILM AWARD
(provided by Domaine Boyar – a diploma and cash prize of 1,000 Euro) went to ‘Frenzy’ (Turkey-France-Qatar) by director Emin Alper.

FIPRESCI AWARD was given to ‘Rauf’ (Turkey) by directors Soner Caner and Baris Kaya.

UBFM'S FILM CRITICS GUILD AWARD
For best Balkan film went to ‘Losers’ (Bulgaria) by Ivaylo Hristov

YOUNG JURY AWARD
For film in the International Competition went to ‘The Lure’ (Poland) by Agnieszka Smoczyńska as the best film in the International Competition.

SPECIAL MENTIONS
The Documentary Jury handed two SPECIAL MENTIONS to the filmCambridge(Bulgaria) by Eldora Traykova and to the film ‘The Ground We Won’ (New Zealand) by the director Cristopher Pryor

The Balkan Jury handed SPECIAL MENTION to the film ‘Nausea’ (Turkey) by Zeki Demirkubuz

SPECIAL MENTION went to Angela Nedyalkova for his role in the film ‘The Paradise Suite’ (The Netherlands-Sweden-Bulgaria).
