25-th SOFIA International Film Festival

If you can you see it - then it must be real!

March 11-31, 2021

We're on the eve of the 25th Sofia International Film Festival. 25 years after the beginning, accumulating amazing experience and achievements, after meetings with hundreds of the world cinema masters and representatives of the European and world film industry, with serious recognition, including FIAPF accreditation and inclusion in the list of Variety magazine, together with 50 of the most important world festivals in the world…

We are ready to start. We're adapting to the pandemic situation. In strict compliance with anti-epidemic measures. With an exceptional quality program. And participants, each of whom is a dear guest in the world of  festivals.

The 25th Sofia Film Festival will consist of two parts: real and special. The festival in March is from 11 till 31 with a hybrid edition. Over 70 films will be available on the world's leading online platform at the Festival Scope / Shift 72. Over 129 films will be screened in Sofia cinemas. The focus in March are the competition programs, the Bulgarian feature and documentary premieres, selected films from the world festival scene, anniversary programs, including masterpieces from the world cinema of directors visiting Sofia. The traditional festivals in Burgas, Plovdiv and Varna will be in the second half of March.

The special edition of the 25th SFF is scheduled for mid-September 2021. Then we plan to show a compact program of world films presented by their authors. All the directors of the films scheduled for September have confirmed their participation. Let's hope we can then enter normalcy and celebrate the 25th Party of the Year properly!

SOFIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL is the biggest film festival in Bulgaria. It began in 1997 and attracts more than 85 000 spectators annually.
