EAGLES OF THE REPUBLIC Sweden-France-Denmark, 2025, 125 min, color

George Fahmy, Egypt’s most beloved actor, is suddenly drawn into a dangerous world of political intrigue when he is cast to play the president in a state-commissioned biographical film. Reluctantly accepting the role, he becomes entangled in a web of corruption, manipulation, and power struggles that extend far beyond the screen.

As he navigates the treacherous relationships of the political elite, including an affair with a high-ranking general’s wife, Fahmy realizes that his “film role” carries real consequences. Every choice tests his morality, ambition, and understanding of loyalty in a regime where the line between art and propaganda is dangerously thin.

Eagles of the Republic is the final installment of Tarik Saleh’s Cairo trilogy, following The Nile Hilton Incident (2017) and Boy from Heaven (2022).
