STATE OF PASSION Jordan-Kuwait-Lebanon-Palestine-UK-Northern Ireland, 2024, 90 min, color, documentary

Dr Ghassan Abu Sittah, born a refugee, has volunteered in war zones across Palestine since the late 1980s. In October 2023, he entered Gaza to work at Al-Shifa and Al-Ahli hospitals during Israel’s bombing campaign. Over 43 harrowing days, he carried out dozens of amputations, many on children, as hospitals were destroyed and medical workers targeted. With food and supplies running out and his health deteriorating, he was forced to return to the UK. Back home, he became a powerful witness to the atrocities, bringing his first-hand testimony to the global stage, including the International Court of Justice.
