"HUMBLE" is the debut feature film of Svetoslav Draganov - another Bulgarian title in the international competition of the 26th Sofia Film Festival

The co-production between Bulgaria and Romania "Humble", a feature debut of screenwriter and director Svetoslav Draganov, presented at Sofia Meetings, will have its first meeting with the Sofia audience in the program of the 26th Sofia Film Festival. The author is best known for his documentaries such as "Life is Beautiful, Isn't It?" 2003), "Amateurs" ("Golden Rhyton" 2005), "Life is almost wonderful" (feature film competition, IDFA 2013), presented over the years in the programs of Sofia Film Festival. Here is what Svetoslav tells about his film stories:

"Through my documentaries, I have always strived to reach the inner world of my characters, to show the human being as a complex image, full of contradictions. It has always been very difficult for me to decide whether to reveal something intimate about the character that is in danger of hurting him, but on the other hand to make the film more exciting. Somehow, naturally, I decided to talk about these dilemmas through the conventions of the feature film."

"Humble" meets the audience with a 40-year-old documentary filmmaker who has not achieved the dream success. Leaving his own family behind, he puts all of his energy into his new film, which tells the story of a broken relationship between a monk and his mother. When he learns that the monk is in psychiatry and that his mother will undergo cancer surgery, he decides that he must collect them to make an emotional finale to his film.

Draganov adds details about his work on his feature debut. The roles in "Humble" are equally entrusted to professional actors and non-professional actors alike. I am happy to have met Hristo Petkov and I really enjoyed our work together. He is a great actor and I think he makes a role that will surprise the audience… In my feature film I tried to be as honest as possible, projecting part of me into the main character. Through him, I expressed things that excite me, but at the same time he gained his face and moved away from me.

The authors of the script are Svetoslav Draganov, Bogomil Dimitrov and Nevena Borisova, the cameraman is Veselin Hristov, the music is by Boris Changarov and Sebastian Zasmele. Besides Hristo Petkov, the film also stars Miroslava Gogovska, Yana Draganova, Atanas Bachorski, Sashka Bratanova, Detelin Benchev, Zdravko Dragnev, Maria Statulova, Boris Lukanov, Kalin Gardev and with the special participation of Sasho Roman. “Humble” is a co-production between Cineast Moody Production (Bulgaria) and Prada Film (Romania), with the support of the National Film Center (Bulgaria), the Romanian Cinematography Center and the Romanian National Television.
