The memory of an iconic artist comes to life in the film "VOEV" with a premiere at the 26th Sofia Film Festival

The Biliana Kirilova’s directing debut feature film  will be presented for the first time
in front of the Bulgarian audience on March the 12th at 20:30 at the Lumiere cinema

To recreate in images one of the symbols of the rebellious generation in Bulgaria is a challenging task that requires special treatment - to the relentlessly flown time of the universal dream of breaking the status quo, to the memories of the not so distant past when young people lived with angry flames. The documentary, dedicated to the legendary Dimitar Voev, tells about his life and work - as a musician, poet and artist, an unforgettable figure in the informal cultural wave of the late 80's and early 90's in Bulgaria - the time of the cardinal change, the collapse of walls, the true hope…

The plot of the story, constructed by directors Biliana Kirilova and Neda Milanova, on the idea of Valeria Stoykova and Biliana Kirilova, traces the years of Voev's early career, culminating in the New Generation band to his untimely death at the age of 27. The film reveals layers and insights of deep soul, using little-known original texts of the musician, archives and moments from his personal life, shared by his closest people. Well known to several generations of deep poetic metaphors, as well as Voev's music are a direct reflection of the "youth revolt" of late socialist realism, recreate the frantic pursuit of freedom and self-expression and through their permanence continue to live today.

The film features music by Nova Generatsiya, Kale, Votsek and Chugra, and among the close people who recreate the image of Dimitar Voev with their memories are Svetoslava Voeva, Pavel Voev, Simeon Voev, Nelly Nedeva-Voeva. , Magadalena Voeva, Dimitra Voeva, Neo Kutsinov, Kristian Kostov, Mihail Peshev, Vasil Gyurov, Alina Tringova, Ekaterina Atanasova, Petar Milanov, Pencho Popov, Dimitar Popov, Rosen Daskalov. The voice-over that interprets Voev's lyrics is that of Ivan Moskov. The cinematographer of the film is Teodor Fichev, the director of the editing is Emil Granicharov, the producer of the film is Valeria Stoykova, the realization is the work of MatchPoint Productions.
The second special screening in the program of the 26th Sofia Film Festival is on April 2, from 20:00 in the House of Cinema.

"I am left (alone of my kind) and immortal, / as a great god."
