Started as a project at Sofia Meetings, Svetla Tsotsorkova's "SISTER" was awarded at the 67th San Sebastian Film Festival

"Sister" is Svetla Tsotsorkova's second feature film after her very successful debut feature "Thirst". At the 67th San Sebastian Film Festival, the film was honored with a Special mention in the "New Directors" program.

"Sister"started as a project at Sofia Meetings and is supported by festivals in Aras - France, Thessaloniki - Greece, Hong Kong - China. The film is produced by Omega Films and Front Film in co-production with Qatar.

The film tells the story of a girl whose tragicomic lies are about to destroy the world of her family. Young lady Monica Naydenova is in the main role - an actress discovered by Tsotsorkova, with an important role in director's debut feature "Thirst". Svetlana Yancheva, Asen Blatechki, Elena Zamyarkova, Valentin Ganev, and Ivan Savov are among the others leading actors in the movie. The script was written by Svetoslav Ovcharov and Svetla Tsotsorkova, who are also producers of the film.

In Variety magazine, Xavier Henry-Rashid from Film Republic wrote "Tsotsorkova has made a film about family life and sisterhood, and the sweet little lies families tell each other, and the way they pull together to overcome them, something we can all relate to.

In Cineuropa, Cristobal Soage wrote: "The second feature by Svetla Tsotsorkova stands as a testament to her talent and her ability to depict family circles conditioned at a fundamental level by the surroundings in which they live."
