A film adaptation of the bestselling novel by Bronja Žakelj, in which the author recounts her own life story. Set in Ljubljana in the 1980s, the film is a touching, humorous, and inspiring tale of growing up, loss, and survival.

 

The story follows Bronja through various stages of her life. After losing her mother to cancer, she must face the insidious disease alone at a young age. Despite numerous and nearly insurmountable challenges, Bronja confronts them with a blend of tears, laughter, and unwavering optimism.

Marko Naberšnik

Marko Naberšnik is accomplished Slovenian director with a master's degree from the Academy of theatre, radio, film, and television. His debut film, Rooster's Breakfast, is the third most-watched Slovenian film of all time. His previous films, Rooster's Breakfast and Sanghai Gypsy, were both adapted from well-known Slovenian books, making him the perfect candidate for adapting Whites Wash at Ninety to the big screen.
