A son and a father go on a hunting trip in an attempt to mend their strained relationship. While the two are deep in the wilderness, the son shoots an old hobo by accident. In order to spare his son the mental anguish of being responsible for the death, the father buries the body as the son is sleeping. The son accepts the comfortable lie that the old man actually got better and left as he was asleep.
